  3. It looks like a Red Eft — the terrestrial, juvenile stage of the Eastern (Red-spotted) Newt. Here’s the adult, aquatic stage.

  4. I grew up in Vermont and I saw them quite a lot. As a kid, the challenge was always to catch one of these bright guys rather than one of his more sedately colored neighbors! -Michelle
